One of my favorite equestrian companies is definitely Personally Preppy. I have been obsessed with monograms ever since my two helmet monograms arrived in the mail in a bright pink envelope. Easy to apply, and very durable, these monograms are the perfect accent to any helmet. K(eep)I(it)S(super)S(subtle) is their motto, but I have to admit I wasn't able to contain my need for sparkle when it came to choosing a monogram for my other helmet! I chose a caviar circle monogram in black to add a bit of sparkle to the back of my Speed Air for equitation. For my Samshield, however, I was sold on the sparkly silver option in the vine font. It adds personality and a pop of color to the back of my black helmet and it rocks in the jumper ring. No matter what division you show in, helmet monograms are a personalized way to express your style, even in a subtle way.

Written by guest Pearl Bensimoun Wisconson's sixteen year old rider Emma Sargent has had quite a successful career in the jumpers as a junior. She owns six horses, and also rides one for her trainer. Donald Cheska. She shows one of her horses in the low junior jumpers, three in the high junior jumpers, one in the Grand Prixs, and one is still in training. Her favorite thing about riding and showing is "working with the horses and have it turn out well with both horse and rider. It's a good feeling and it is very rewarding." Sargent's favorite horse shows are any that are held at the Kentucky Horse Park because the ring is so big and beautiful, and also has a huge grass field with ample room to gallop in. Her most recent accomplishment was competing in her first Grand Prix with her horse, Winchester, at the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival and only having one rail in her first round. Her short term goal is to be in the top ten for the NAJYRC and then Prix des States. In the future she would like to make a career out of riding if possible. "I normally don't have just one but [a particular] rider I do really like is Lucy Davis because she sort of came out from nowhere and just used her own skills and talents to make a name for herself," responded Sargent when asked who her riding inspiration was. Horse Shows by the Bay was by far my favorite show on the circuit. The competition was steep but it was still not an enormous show like WEF. Ice Cream socials every Saturday kept riders cool and happy and tents strategically placed near rings provided shade for horses. My favorite thing about HSBB was probably going to the lake and boating, jet skiing, and parasailing with my friends from the barn after a long day of showing. I also loved spending the 4th of July with my barn friends. Moomer’s Ice Cream was also a huge plus! I loved HSBB not just for it’s location and ice cream though. There was such great competition at this show but everyone was enjoying their time in Traverse City, Michigan and was really friendly. I remember coming out of the ring after my last ride on my pony and bursting into tears knowing he was going back to his owners straight from the horse show and Sophie Gochman, whom I had never met, consoled me but also congratulated me on winning the Classic. It’s shows like this that I firmly believe that every rider should go to. My confidence was hugely improved and I grew as a rider and a person over the three weeks that my barn would attend the show. Even though during the show we sold two horses and found out that my first horses lungs were failing and we would have to retire him I had the best time of my life there, which is saying something. I am sad that the show doesn’t exist anymore but I am thrilled that the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival was such a success. Written by guest Isabella Anderson So Southern Custom Embroidery is a popular business that sells customized equine attire for both horse and rider. They have embroidered IEA/IHSA team apparel, saddle pads for the Plaid Horse Mag, and much more. I got my embroidered monogram baby pad from them, and it was beautiful right out of the packaging! The monogrammed aspect of it doesn't only provide a personalized touch, it's also promising in the sense that you never have to worry about it being taken. We can all relate to the problem of mixed up and/or missing white baby pads at the barn! I love monograms. I always find a way to personalize everything, it's an obsession! This baby pad is absolutely amazing. I got plenty of compliments from my trainers, other boarders, and my riding friends. It was a big hit at my barn, and I plan on ordering equine items from So Southern for all of my embroidery needs! Be sure to check out their site and order your customized attire today! http://www.so-southern.com As many may know, showing against many people in your division can often be nerve wracking! Here are several tips and tricks that will calm you before you enter the in gate!
1. Always remember it's not about the color of the ribbon, but how you rode and if you tried your hardest. At the end of the day it's not going to matter if you were grand champion or didn't even ribbon, it's going to matter that you rode your best and were happy with your trips. 2. If someone pinned better than you, and you might've though that your trip was better, have good sportsmanship and realize that you are not the judge! Yes, this can often be easier said than done, but the judge might have thought you made a bigger mistake than they did, or saw something in them! 3. Never blame your horse! Remember to always pat your horse and give him treats! He tried his hardest and that is all that matters. I can go on and list about one hundred different trips and tricks about how to do your best in the show ring and be happy with your trips, however I feel that these three are one of the most important ones! PoBows carries practically everything from helmet monograms to horse show bows and even stall signs. Their products are absolutely amazing quality and very cute! The products that I received in the mail from PoBows are a pair of custom horse show bows as well as several monograms in different sizes, shapes, colors, and fonts. The horse show bows are made with thick durable ribbon that won't tear or be damaged easily! They are also clip-ons which make them very easy to put on. At first, when I applied the monograms it was slightly confusing, however, I then got the hang of it and it became very easy to apply! PoBows came shiped very quickly, answered all of my questions, and were overall great when it came to my bows and monograms. To top it off, the packaging was also super cute! Each product is made with care from New York, and I would definitely recommend purchasing any product from PoBows weather it be a custom stall sign, horse show bows, or monograms!
