Written by guest Isabella Anderson Ecolicious Equestrian is not a foreign name in the world of horse care products. Their all-natural products are 100% paraben free and have absolutely no harsh chemicals. When it comes to the products themselves to the packaging, Ecolicious Equestrian has made sure to keep everything all-natural and earth friendly! In addition, the products won’t hurt grass and flowers, as well as safe in other reasons such as non-toxicity! Moisture Maniac Mane and Tail Detangling Infusion is one of the best detanglers on the market. This product, along with all of the other products in the Ecolicious Equestrian line, contains only the best ingredients to create an incredibly helpful spray! My mare never has a knot-free tail for more than a day, and Moisture Maniac has kept my mare’s tail knot-free for up to 3 days! Everyone knows the struggle of brushing tails and those tiny knots that seem to always form. With Moisture Manic, just one spray and brushing because an easy task! Lastly, this special detangler makes manes and tails smell phenomenal for days! Next, I used my new favorite shampoo, Squeaky Clean and Green! “Coconut derived ingredients are tough on dirt yet gentle on the skin.” The citrus scent of this shampoo is pleasing and you’ll never have to worry about the runoff of the shampoo causing any harm to the plants and grass since it is biodegradable. This shampoo cleans deeply and just a little goes a long way, and it makes coats soft and shiny. I use this even on my horses face with amazing results! Thanks to Ecolicious Equestrian, braiding has become a dream with In Control Conditioning Mane Setting Cream. My horse was braided using my mini bottle of In Control for the equitation and her braids were flawless. This conditioning cream keeps braids in tact and there were absolutely no fly away hairs, even tiny ones! While it helps the process of braiding tremendously, it also nourishes mane and “restores elasticity” while keeping braids tight. It smells amazing and bugs are not attracted to it-making this an amazing product in more ways then just one. Lastly, I received a Hey Sugar Lip Silk and can’t get enough of the scent and feel it leaves on my lips. It smells of brown sugar and reminds me of the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, all while moisturizing my lips and making them soft. Not to mention it leaves a subtle but just enough sparkle and shimmer! To conclude, Ecolicious Equestrian is the equestrian worlds go-to company for everything natural for both the horse and rider. In addition to coat, hoof, mane, and tail products, they carry a variety of items for the rider including body butter and lip silks. As many may know, some horses just seem to get really dirty. Really fast. This especially goes for horses on the lighter side such as greys, paints, and appaloosas, whom have larger white spots rather than a few socks and a snip. Over my years riding and showing horses that always seem to get dirty, I have gathered a few tips to always keep them looking show-ring clean. Bathing Gloves: I would highly recommend investing in some sort of bathing sponge/glove. I personally prefer using a bathing glove to sponge because it is easier to scrub at those hard to get off dirt stains! My favorite bathing/grooming glove would hands down be from Equine Organix. It is only $6.99 and there are three gorgeous colors to choose from. You can purchase it here. Jelly Scrubbers: Jelly scrubbers are definitely a grooming essential for horses who seem to always have mud or dirt on them no matter what! Jelly scrubbers can be apart of your grooming or bathing routine for your horse, or both. These come in a variety of different brands and colors, and can be pretty much purchased from any tack shop. Setting them apart from bathing sponges, they are more compact and are a bit harder. You can purchase a jelly scrubber here, or from your local tack shop. Whitening Shampoos: For horses that have more white on them than just socks or facial markings (paints, appaloosas, greys), whitening shampoo is surely a necessity to keep them looking show-ring clean! Already seeming like an essential for almost any rider, whitening shampoos are often forgotten as people opt for using a regular shampoo such as Mane n' Tail. For mud and dirt caked onto a white spot, a trick is to use a bathing glove or jelly scrubber with the whitening shampoo on it to work out the mark. My personal favorite whitening shampoo, and one of the main ones, is by far Vetrolin's White N' Brite shampoo. You can purchase this whitening shampoo here. Written by guest Pearl Bensimoun
KJ Creations is an Etsy shop that sells a wide variety of equestrian products such as decals, monograms, and much much more. They can truly create almost any equine accessory. KJ Creations sells stall signs, monograms, tack room accessories such as tack trunks, jewelry, crops and spurs, and decals. Just to name a few! KJ Creations not only sells amazing equestrian products at affordable prices, but they are extremely high quality and durable as well. I received in the mail several gorgeous monograms that I am certainly very pleased with. The first monogram that I received were two sets of the "Boot Monograms", one set in a shimmery glitter purples, and the other in a sleek black. I applied one of them to my phone case. It was super easy to apply and stuck on with ease. The next monogram I applied to the side of my tack trunk, and it applied great. Like any monogram or decal, there usually is some extremely light folding on the side after a lot of use. I also received four KJ Creations logos, with two being a glittery purple, and the other two being a sophisticated black. I applied two to my computer, and I was very impressed with how easy they were to apply. I have normally always found monograms sometimes difficult to apply due to not everything applying well, but I certainly did not face that issue with these. Along with the monograms, I received a decal with a D Ring Bit. Under the bit, said my name. I applied this also to my tack trunk. Yet again, I faced no problems whatsoever with applying or it sticking to the tack trunk. These monograms and decals are truly one of a kind. The packaging was absolutely adorable, and attached was a handwritten, personal note which I found very sweet. The monograms shipped very fast. From Texas to Florida, it was only a few business days. I would highly recommend placing an order from KJ Creations, as these make great gifts to others(or yourself!). Mane Street Bakery is a horse treat business that delivers treats that your horse is sure to love. They are based out of Texas and sell to some of the biggest saddlery chains such as Dover Saddlery and many tack stores nationwide. The owner, an avid dog and horse lover, created recipes for these treats using only the finest and organic ingredients. They are baked daily to ensure freshness and to be served in a perfect state. The wide variety of flavors of treats makes this a go-to business that your horse is sure to have multiple favorites from! Among the horse treats, there are Carrot Biscotti, Apple Biscotti, and Peppermint Bark. First, I decided to give my horse the Apple Biscotti treats. My mare can be picky with treats, but she ate the first one in one bite and was nodding for more! The look on her face asked for the whole bag, and I couldn’t resist but to give her them all! While she was eating them, I was curious to see what the ingredients were. The treats were made with only the best and freshest ingredients such as rye flour and barley flour. Not to mention the cranberries! The reddish-purple color made the treats aesthetically pleasing as well as one other reason why my horse loved them so much! A couple of days later after a great ride, I brought out the Carrot Biscotti. Again, my mare ate the first one and obviously wanted more! Like many horse owners, I decided to try one for myself. The carrot treats tasted great even to me, and I could taste the quality and the freshness! Another thing I noticed was that there were ingredients such as cinnamon and anise powder! Anise is a flowering plant that has similar tastes to licorice powder, which adds flavor that can be used in both horse and human treats/recipes! It was amazing to see such unexpected ingredients come together and make treats that were such a hit at the barn. Lastly, I gave my horse the Peppermint Bark treats. These were both my horse and I’s favorites! I always love the look of crushed peppermint on treats, and my horse loves the taste! In addition to the Apple Biscotti, Peppermint Bark also has cranberries, which seem to have added to the taste! I have noticed that horses love the crunchiness and sweetness of the peppermint on treats and given just as a plain peppermint, and Peppermint Bark was virtually all of their dreams come true! The Apple Biscotti, Carrot Biscotti, and Peppermint Bark treats, each in 2oz packages, lasted less than a week - horses couldn’t get enough! Mane Street Bakery combines the love of horses an dogs as well as the knowledge of fine ingredients and holistic care to offer your dog and horse only the best treats. Be sure to pick up your Mane Street at your local tack store or online at www.manestreetbakery.com Written by guest Isabella Anderson R.J. Classics is one of the most popular show apparel companies in the equestrian world today. From shadbellies to breeches, there are products for every show occasion and event. R.J. Classics is most well-known for their coats and the quality of their products. From the affordable essential coats to the light-weight, breathable, high tech coats there is truly something for every price range and need. I received the navy blue Gulf Model Breeches. These breeches are low rise and "euroseat" style with a front zip. These breeches were easy to fit for me and have proven to be one of my favorite breeches. The navy color is great for schooling at home and at shows, and the material is comfortable yet high quality and durable. As R.J. Classics mentioned, many customers love the fit and the feel of the stretch fabric- and I have experienced this first hand. The stretch material offers the right about of stretch to fit perfectly on any body type. The quick-dry aspect is also extremely beneficial in wet and rainy areas such as south Florida. One thing that I have noticed and have been very pleased about is the resistance to light to moderate rain. During this time of the year, South Florida is very rainy and wet, and for those rides where rain comes, these breeches have been great. Light rain just falls off the breeches and doesn't feel wet. However, when rain gets heavy, the breeches are quick to dry and feel water-free within a short amount of time. These breeches feel great both on the flat and over fences. Over the last weekend, I wore these schooling at a show in Wellington and around the show when I didn't have my show apparel on. I got plenty of compliments and they never once felt uncomfortable! To conclude, Gulf Model breeches are an impeccable choice for schooling at home and at shows in a tan color. They come in a variety of colors and styles to perfectly match your breech preference and vision. Be sure to order your Gulf Model breeches today at www.rjclassics.com! Don't miss the next editions in this very special 4 part review on R.J. Classics! Written by guest Megan McCarthy
Last month I went to my favorite horse show ever and it was an amazing experience. Capital Challenge takes place in Upper Marlboro, Maryland from September 26th to October 4th. Everything is thrilling about this show, the people, the horses and the facility. It was a long 4 hour drive (from New Jersey) but it defiantly paid off. We got in very late at night and woke up at 4 in the morning for schooling in the outdoor ring. It was amazing, to watch all the famous riders and ponies I was surround by. To even be in the same ring as them was thrilling. The big screen that shows you and your ponies name is satisfying and hearing the announcer say your name, it makes you feel like a rider. It makes you feel like all the long hours and all the days you passed up a party for a riding lesson, it pays off. I was so proud of my pony and my rounds! I really enjoyed seeing all my riding friends, hanging out with them, and watching rounds together. The most memorable moment at Capital Challenge 2015 would definitely be the rain though. It rained all day, all weekend. And every rider did every trip. By the end of the day, my show bats, boots, socks, shirt and everything else was soaked all the way through. There were at least 20 ponies crammed under a little tent. The indoor was much drier and I was happy to show in there Saturday. Waking up at 4 in the morning 2 days in a row may be torture for most people, but for me, to get up and ride, I don't care what time of day it is. Riding in the indoor arena at Capital Challenge is one of the most amazing feelings. It feels like your at a major horse show. It feels like your a big time rider. My indoor rounds went well too and I was so glad to get to meet the pervious owners of my amazing pony who were also at the show! Everything about the show is just incredible. The pictures, the food, the ring, the ponies and even the enormous laundry bag you get for showing there. The truth is, the reason Capital Challenge is my favorite show is because it's hard and if you work for it. It will payoff. Written by guest Pearl Bensimoun
Mane Jane is an equestrian accessory company that sells trending spur straps in a variety of super fun colors with charms on them (or not!). Their spur straps are completely customizable, and you can choose from a wide rang of colors and charms to create the perfect pair of spur straps for you! Their spur straps are handcrafted with the finest leather, hardware, and stitching in the U.S.A. Their spur straps are truly one of a kind and of amazing quality that is super durable for the daily doses of riding, grooming, and showing. I received a pair of faux "Snakeskin" spur straps from Mane Jane with a clover charm on them. These spur straps are unlike anything I have ever seen and I definitely fell in love with them upon opening the package and riding in them. They are the perfect size for almost every size boot, not having too much excess spur strap. I am a person who is ALL for cute packaging, so when I saw how amazingly these were packaged, I fell even more in love! They came in two bags, that were both a fierce leopard print. One had the spur straps in, and the other was filled with adorable goodies. These goodies included a bunch of mints for you and your horse, some discount codes and cards, as well as even an ecstatic pink "Mane Jane" hair tie. I have never ordered or received anything from a company who even sent anything close to being as amazingly packaged as Mane Jane. The spur straps are extremely durable and easy to clean. They made the spur hold on tight to my boot, and did not move around. After I rode in them, I unfortunately got some dirt on them, but it cleaned right off! I mostly only have plain black leather spur straps, so the faux "Snakeskin" spur straps were a nice change! They were not too bright, so they were perfect for schooling at home or at shows, and even a jumper class. These spur straps are definitely on the more subtle side, which I prefer personally. They also had very good customer service, and the spur straps shipped quickly. Shelby was so nice to work with! I am for sure going to be getting another pair of these spur straps. Showplace Spring Spectacular is an excellent show. The show is three weeks long and It is at Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, Illinois. The show is taken place outside in the spring so the weather is amazing, I mean how much better can it get? People from all over attend the show. They have hunter classes and jumper classes. They have a Grand Prix each week. They also have an International Hunter Derby. If you have an opportunity to attend the show I highly recommend it! They have many stores to shop at including Barrington Saddlery and CWD saddle shop. Andrew Ryback Photography takes pictures of each class also and they are amazing pictures!! Top riders from the Midwest ride at this show including Gia Rinaldi and this past year Andy Kocher attended the show, both of them showed in the Grand Prix. This past year I only showed in Week 1, I wish I could've shown all of the weeks! It was so much fun! I showed my new horse in the Modified and Novice Children's Hunter, it went very well. Before I showed on Saturday, I watched the Grand Prix. It was so much fun because my barn reserved a table to watch and eat. Overall I really enjoyed showing there and I plan on attending the show this year too. Obviously you can tell that Showplace Spring Spectacular is very fun and enjoyable to compete in. I hope to see you there next year! Written by guest Pearl Bensimoun
The Handy Hunter Boutique is a California based company that sells equine accessories. They sell a wide variety of equine accessories, from belts to polo wraps to saddle pads to shirts they sell it! The quality of their products is one of a kind, and their customer service is amazing. Their products are also very affordable for the quality that they are! I received two amazing belts from the Handy Hunter Boutique. The belts that I received are the "Gaucho" belt and the "Bridgehampton" belt. The "Gaucho" belt that I received is in an adorable pink and blue pattern. It fits very "true to size" in my opinion. This belt is perfect for schooling, and even showing in the jumpers! The "Gaucho" belt was a very good fit for my Tailored Sportsman Trophy Hunter breeches, fitting the belt loops just right with not too much room left. The other belt that I received from the Handy Hunter Boutique is the "Bridgehampton" belt. This belt is a leather fancy stitched belt. It is a bit wider to fit the Tailored Sportsman Trophy Hunter breeches belt loops just right! The leather is padded and very good quality for the low price of about fifty-five dollars. One thing about the "Bridgehampton" belt is that they do run a bit small. I received it first in a size Small, which I usually am in belts and in the "Gaucho" belt, but it was too small for me. I then asked if I could exchange it for a Medium, and they gladly sent me a new belt in the bigger size. They were great about everything, which was very nice to see! The rule of thumb for the "Bridgehampton" belt is to move up a size from the size that you usually are in belts. For example, if you are a size Small normally, you should move up to a size Medium in the "Bridgehampton" belt. The Handy Hunter Boutique is a very unique equine accessory business considering their phenomenal customer service, classy products, and amazing prices and quality! Go check out their website handyhunterboutique.com, and their Instagram @handyhunterboutique. |
